How I can help
I can help in a variety of ways, but for ease of understanding let’s break it down into three distinct areas, which may overlap with some projects:
Structural editing (sometimes also known as substantive or developmental editing); refining and, where needed, improving a document/manuscript’s content, structure, language, style and presentation.
Copyediting; where vocabulary, grammar, spelling and consistency are checked to achieve accuracy in style and layout but no major changes to the structure of the writing takes place.
Proofreading; is a quality control measure focusing on integrity, spelling and punctuation errors and conformity with project specifications. It’s a final check of a near complete (in most cases, already typeset) document/manuscript to proofread for errors such as: missing or incorrectly placed words, additional or missing spaces, captions and graphics/images alignment etc.
I’m here to help you determine what editing you need. Together we can work to make your words shine.
I can also offer line edits (in depth copyedit where style and flow are also checked and some cutting/rewriting may occur), beta reading and manuscript assessments.
